Dennis is an international lawyer. He is a former Dean of the Law School at the National University of Ireland (Galway). He is also a former Visiting Professor at Harvard University and at Peking University Law School; he was also the Co-Founder of the Irish Centre for Human Rights.
At Galway, Dennis was the Chairperson of an annual workshop, designed for in-house counsel, on the legal problems of multinational companies. He also pioneered a number of academic courses which were the first of their kind at any law school in the British Isles: Comparative Competition Law, Comparative Freedom of Speech, Corporate Social Responsibility, and International Human Rights. He was the first-ever recipient of the President’s Award for Outstanding Contribution to the success of the University.
For the past decade, Dennis has pursued his interests in Corporate Social Responsibility and Comparative Corporate Governance. He has given workshops on CSR to more than 500 companies in Developing Countries, primarily in China. He is the author of the forthcoming study, Comparative Corporate Governance.
Dennis has given more than 300 lectures on international law, comparative law or commercial law in approximately 20 countries in Europe, North America, Asia and Latin America. He has also been a legal consultant to a number of governments and intergovernmental organizations.
